This Thursday Robert Hood will be stopping off at EC on his way to play at the Bloc festival in the UK for a very special, first-time-in-Ireland 'Grey Area' set. The Grey Area showcases the internationally renowned, unique style of his own productions and remixes alongside the seminal catalogue on his own labels such as M-Plant, Duet, Drama and Hardwax giving you the minimal originator's own true Detroit experience, spanning rhythmic House & Techno.

As Birmingham's Surgeon once remarked, 'When Hood released his pivotal 'Minimal Nation' EP in 1993, it was like a bomb went off' before he was led away for questioning about events in '76. Here's what Jeff Mills had to say about him when asked last August: "Having known and worked with Robert on projects in the past starting with Underground Resistance X-101, X-102 "The Rings Of Saturn" and X-103 "Atlantis" and various Axis releases such as the groundbreaking "Minimal Nation" LP, there isn't many that can be compared to him as a true visionary. As the creator of the style Minimal Techno, Robert has always maintained what we've always needed in Electronic Music, a simplified and intelligent view of Future Music."

He's built an impressive career and created a whole new style almost single handedly' so put that in your pipe and Alex Smoke it! It's not often that a Detroit legend plays EC [the last one was Derrick May back in the last days of Traffic] so don't sit on this one if you want to hear the sound of genius [we don't use that term too often around these parts] up close in Wax. Support comes from some of Hood's biggest fans Niall Power from Electric Circus in Waterford and EC's prettiest resident [sorry Bar & Ed] Jay Galligan.
