i must say, romplers is a pretty new word to me. i'm quite happy just making the sounds on a regular vsti and then piling on the fx and letting rip. but i recently downloaded nexus and i have to say, i'm impressed.
it's a lovely interface but basically all it is is a sampler with some excellent preset banks. check it out if you get a chance. be warned though - the minimal house bank is NOT minimal hahah

Yeah much controversy about that one in KVR world, but it resumes down to one thing, the toolls are what we make of them, kind of a cliché but i think it's true

wtf are romplers
one ell of a baby suit
a sampler that does not sample but contains banks of ready made samples and filters envelopes and stuff .
It doesn`t sample just stores all its samples in read only memory
you cant load other stuff into it ie waves and stuff , but you can expand the sounds woith upgrades
i think

wicked...
mark refx nexus is indeed the daddy!!! I love how versatile it is, but obviously being a rompler you can't tweak the oscillators which is a shame.
Have you tried spectrasonics stylus rmx - full of every weird drum hit known to man
