While talking about influences and origins in techno, I can`t help but think of Z`EV
One of the progenitors of the industiral music, he was making purely percussive tribalised music in the 70`s, and was influential to a lot of the early electronic based bands that toyed with the birth of dance music.

I`ve been into his stuff for years, and was lucky to see him perform (which he still does today) using his self made metallic percussive instruments.
Very techno, and good stuff to listen to, to give an idea of what you can do with purely percussive sources.
