Dave Anderson [Emoticon Records - Glasgow]
Brian McCarthy
James Boylan
Admission 6 euro
This week sees Dave Anderson from the top underground production duo 'Otomi'
come down to Electric City for his first DJ appearance at the club. Otomi's
previous Emoticon release "Zusammen/Vertrauen" received a response that far
exceeded most debut-release expectations. The two tracks of stripped-down,
soulful, broken electronics were a hit with DJs like Carl Craig, Pepe
Braddock, Recloose and Kirk Degiorgio, and the record went on to be one of
Emoticon's most popular releases to date. The next Otomi release 'Pakt' is
about to drop on Emoticon and it's another killer slice of techno genius
with perfectly positioned synths carrying it effortlessly through its
nine-minute course.
Dave' DJ'ing style is much like the music he produces - deep, soulful but
with enough drive to keep the dancefloor moving. Hailing from Glasgow and
with DJ appearances at events such as Trilogy and The Arches, his set is
sure to feature tracks from the likes of Aril Brikha, UR, Anthony Shakir,
and Arne Weinberg.
Playing the opening slot this week is James Boylan - James played at the
first ever Electric City night in the Metropolitan back in February and it's
a pleasure to have him back. James is a wicked DJ and we're sure he will set
the night off nicely with a set of deep house & techno.
The filling in this week's Electric City sandwich is Brian McCarthy - Brian
dropped us in an excellent mix CD featuring tracks from the likes of
Deetron, Heiko Laux, Holger Flinsch and Oliver Hacke. This will be his first
club DJ appearance and we're really looking forward to hearing him play.
We're committed to getting new people in to play the club on a regular
basis. Bring down a CD/tape/mini-disc and give it to Simon or Giles on the
night. First time DJ's will be playing an early slot so try to make your mix
fit in with that particular time of the night.
