Mess around with compression and bitcrushing.

Try varying the velocity on your individual hits.

if you want a short cut try sampling a clean bit of audio from your fav tune and run it through cubase to create a groove quantise you can use.

i would try playing with the quantise on your percs/hats also velocity too.

use a noise generator... u can come up with lovely hi hats with those bad boys..

i especially like Massive because you can easilty assign a 1/16 step seq/performer to it..
