BACKGROUND INFO
SPLITs aim was to ‘split’ ideas, ‘split’ music, split responsibility, to collaborate and to get people involved in a fantastic night out. To this day that has been successful. SPLIT have invited artists to the UK not previously seen and shaken up a stale music scene.

By SPLIT standards, 2007 has been a quiet year. We’ve always felt that to put on a party its gotta be right, so we’ve stepped back from the break to have a good look around for something special to bring the SPLIT faithful, and, alongside TILTED DISCO we’ve found it.

TILTED DISCO is a movement, a group of people that use electronic music as a pattern for life and now want to share their music and influences to rock the dance floors TILTED DISCO style.

The first series of TILTED DISCO events have been rocking London with contemporary acid house through to modern techno creating a vibe and sound that is flavoursome and thoughtful. Having been invited to play with some of the world’s leading techno nights and now hooking up with Split for a Christmas party, all is good in our TILTED world.

DJ BIOGRAPHIES

KEN ISHII is something of a legend. A multi-talented, percussive genius & rightly proclaimed one of techno’s leading lights, “A salvo of forward thinking albums of polyrhythmic splendor”. ISHII emerged in 1993. His idiosyncratic take on the techno sound was a welcome tonic. His R&S debut, GARDEN ON THE PALM,and the subsequent album, JELLY TONES,positioned ISHII at the forefront of the electronic scene. Still regularly releasing after 14 years, late 2006 saw ISHII release an original album SUNRISER and has continuously been releasing on his side project, FLR, focusing on the dance floor. From videos directed by Kouji Morimoto [director of the world famous Akira], to winning MTV awards, Muzik Awards, performing at the Winter Olympics in Nagano to performing live on tour, residing in some of the world’s most infamous club nights, collaborating with artists outside his own environment, as well as DJing and producing forward thinking techno hailed by all the Detroit Techno Militia, ISHII is rightly respected by all, but worshipped by his native Japanese fan base.

THE ADVENT, “A coming, or an arrival; a coming into being or use”, an appropriate name for Cisco Ferreira, a man who has played a big part in the creation and development of Techno from the very beginning of this genre’s history. Cisco was producing and performing Techno shows years before the rest of the world had even heard of the genre, his first track released in 1988. Ciscos’ resume is impressive, working through many genres with many of best from those genres, Cisco did sessions for P.I.L. [John Lydon, The Sex Pistols], Robert Plant [Led Zeppelin], That Petrol Emotion. Later on Pop, Dance, Soul & reggae groups like Wild Bunch [Nelly Hopper & Massive Attack], Marco Pirroni [Adam & the Ants], Maxi Priest, Sly Dunbar [Sly & Robbie], Loose Ends, Cheryl Lynn. Cisco is an artist that has truly carved his sound and earned his stripes

VINCE WATSON returns with his British flavoured melodic Detroit sound almost a year to the day since his debut performance.

BEN SIMS needs no introduction. The SPLIT resident is a much in demand DJ on the international scene, producer, remixer and label boss. In a genre that propagates sound-alike’s, SIMS production has attracted widespread attention and has seen its fair share of copycat productions. He's been acknowledged by contemporaries as creating a positive Techno style-shift, his work supported by a broad cross-section of DJs and is regularly featured in the boxes of his own personal heroes like Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Jeff Mills, Rolando etc. in addition to almost all of the high profile techno jocks on the worldwide circuit. Occasionally playing a second room set for SPLIT under his ESSEX RASCALS guise, this month BEN will be playing his trade mark main room tearing techno set.

STEVE STRAWBERRY is no stranger to clubs and turntables; being at the forefront of Tilted Disco and throwing some of London’s hottest events, mixing up his style of electro, house and techno with his quick funk style. Steve’s present residencies include Modernism at Turnmills, which has seen him DJ among the Detroit stars, resident at Closer, a Warehouse project in the centre of London (aimed at bringing over Techno legends to play in one of the best settings to host an event… a Warehouse!) and not forgetting his residency at TILTED DISCO. At the forefront of a new wave of techno DJs to come out of Europe, and with three present residences at London’s high profile events, Steve has proved he can rock that dance floor nonstop.

COLIN DALE is a UK techno and underground house legend. His outstanding dance show on Kiss FM helped maintain the profile of new techno music in the UK during the mid-nineties and elevated the tech-house sound by playing music from different genres. Highly skilled club DJ as well, hero of the underground.

PAUL MAC has a history of releases on every respected Techno label, much respected SPLIT resident PAUL MAC returns to grace the turntables once more

ALEX DOWNEY aka MORPH reappears at SPLIT to deliver his consummate selection of treasures culled from Brighton’s highly respected COVERT RECORDS, where ALEX has manned the tills for the last ten years. A long-standing SPLIT supporter, his boundless knowledge and enthusiasm for all things techno are equaled only by his precision-engineered DJ skills.
