OK so Chrissi (my girl) wants a pair of practice monitor speakers for her office. Nothing flash and quite small (girls tend to like small things - I wonder why?????)

About six months ago I saw her look at a pair of (what I thought were) Alesis Monitor 1's. Nice and small and they're active too. But they didn't look anything like the old M1's we used to have (which were passive) and they were much, much smaller.

OK, so I've looked around, cause I'd like to get her them for Xmas (not long now!!!).. I've seen all sorts of M1's and I'm lost as to which one's she saw.

The Mk2's look like my old Mk1's - too big
Then there's 520's and 620's.

Now the 520's look sort of the ones. But are they any good? I haven't really got time to go and test them, plus I need to order today to get for Xmas I think...

Any quick thoughts that might help me anyone???

Mark, have you looked at the Yamaha HS-50m's???

They are nice and small, and very accurate.

There are lots of good reviews, and I have heard them while in Steve Morleys studio, and he swears by them

Sorry to add more decisions, it just i havent dealt with new Alesis.
