sorry to beat a dead horse here but

PATRICK SKOOG IS THE SHIT!

i think his latest release on ND (#14 - beyond) is amazing. exactly what im looking for in a techno track.

i love this guy.

ps is it skoog or skoogs cause i've seen both...

agreed! i like the Damon Vallero remix on the flip.

His new Submissions is top aswell, all three tracks are corkers.

yeah im really starting to take a shine to this guy, ive been buying his records all year. and i remember mark saying in a post a few months ago that he felt that skoog was the best hard techno producer right now, at the time i felt he was good, but not the best around. well from that point onwards every skoog release ive listened to has been amazing. i too think that this guy is knocking out the best hard techno right now.

He was the Gq Sexiest producer of the year.

i love geezer, i really do, but i have to say Skoog's style is incomparible. he is my fave techno producer FULL STOP at the mo. i can hear a formula in geeezers music but in Skoog's i hear none. i have no idea when anything is going to happen in his music and that's why i love it.

i find myself playing 30 minutes of pure Skoog sometimes and loving it. it's hard to do that with anyone else in hard techno at the minute.

anx
12-12-2003, 12:19 AM
yea no doubt mark, my new cd is in the works and i organized all the tracks only to realize i had 4 or 5 skoog tracks on it....so i had to take it down to 2...it was a hard choice haha

i love geezers work but he uses the same formula too many times, having said that, his music still has a great energy about it, as for skoog i like some of his stuff but i need to hear more before i can comment too much on him, but like everyone says he is very varied

DRUMWORKS 4 - Indigo EP

I swear I've worn out my copy.. I wanted to play it twice in my set last weekend its that good! (I didn't tho obviously.. ;) )

I love all of Skoogs stuff and have been crapping on about him for ever but this record is just immense! It's ****ing obese! :rambo:

Every set I've played in the last month and a bit I've cained this record without fail and it causes absolute mayhem every time, no question!!!

One of my fav Skoog tracks ever and as you know, that's a huge statement when all his tracks are so good! :notworthy:

I'm going to go put it now and dance round the studio gurning :mashed:

No formula to Skoog's music? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. You are joking, right?

Skoog is far too ploddy and lacking in any fun to call him the best producer in the techno scene at the moment.

But then again, personal taste is personal taste.

Skoog is a good artist to use as a filler track just before you want to build up to another big kick off but really does lack that screaming banshee boom boom and clean analogue lines that you need to be truly 'avin 'it.

Average is a good word for Skoog.

jonnyspeed
12-12-2003, 01:48 PM
Cheers! That is my honest opinion. Now sucking up to Henry, one might be accused of that but Mr. Skoog, never!

p.s. "average" is meant in the context of a group of excellent techno producers not the general public... so way better than I could ever dream of producing

peace :)

Spooney
12-12-2003, 01:52 PM
So Skoog's tunes are not "avin it" are they!?! Because all the tunes I own of his are most definately Avin It! There must be another geezer called skoog, that isn't doin Patrick any favours....

jonnyspeed
12-12-2003, 02:02 PM
Might be me but no he ain't avin' it - he's more of a tribal techno warm-up artist than a end of party sprint for the finish... I like to get head rushes from the music when I go out rather than 2 miles an hour plod, plod, plod, have a look around, plod, plod, plod, when the next artist coming on etc. no matter how loud it is

he just doesn't seem to cut it with me. For example BOA9 was worth buying but I'm not sure I'll be playing Rave Killer in 6 years time the same way that I still play Guy McAffer tracks from 1997.

Spooney
12-12-2003, 02:15 PM
I to like to get head rushes from my music - not just when im out. Let his tunes get right inside your head and they will blow it off :rambo: I own more tunes by Geezer than by Skoog but I would never call his music boring! I mean Geezer hasn't really been fireing on all cylinders recently has he..

Adverse
12-12-2003, 02:19 PM
in terms of who's "talented" he's average, in terms of who's tracks rock the floor he gets a definitive passing grade. interms of whether his music has no formula? well that is a ridiculous assertion.

nope i'm sorry. i'm sticking by what i'm saying.. skoog's stuff is 100% amazing. it's all personal for sure but if you don't think that, well you mustnt be listening to it right. and ok adverse you damn clever clogs (and stop all this lol shit you funny cunt who's gonna get a good old slapping with a wet kipper if he's not careful) there are actually formulas in skoogs music but alot less than most techno artists out there. and there's always really cool clever bits in his production that make his stuff speical.

how anyone can say his music is plod plod plod is waaaaay beyond me :!:

Skoog is pretty dope. Not all of his works are 100% great...sometimes I'm let down but there are other times where I think he's made some of the best records of the year. His Mankind and ND stuff are usually always great. Put this way, when Skoog is on...Skoog is on!

just one question

what the **** is a wet kipper

jonnyspeed

a kipper is a type of smoked Herring. Some people eat kippers for breakfast. So a wet kipper is a wet smoked herring. It is used as a term for pathetic.

A typical arrogant non techno listener comment. The track that goes "bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbeeeeeeeeeeeeep" just when break begins is actually by Headroom (which Skoog was once part of).

I think patrick Skoog is just so diverse in his productions. I mean every track is quality ( and all of the Headroom's before him). I think he's appeared on more labels this year than anyone else. That is saying a lot about his production techniques and quality. Liking him to Geezer??? I think its a different ball game they would play ( one a sprint for the finish, the other trying to get you think...)

As I have said in past posts, Skoog is the shizniat!!

I have bought pretty much everything he has done in the last little while.

Keep up the good work MR SKOOGY!!

And in terms of formulation. Yeah he uses his 4 x 4 beat all the way through, but I like tracks that I can mix without gettin f'd up!
