Hey,

Feb 28th sees the first part of our 5th Birthday celebrations. Yes - 5 years of Thursday nights since we kicked off in the Metropolitan in February 2003. We had already done a few one-off gigs before that in the TBMC so we're really closer to about 7 but unlike the Queen, we are only having the one birthday. It's been a long haul of Thursday's and we've been through many phases and hit 3 venues. The early halcyon days of Metropolitan, followed by an interlude in Traffic that didn't always go to plan but at the same time saw us bring Villalobos, Hawtin, Dave Clarke and many others to a tiny capacity. We've now found our 3rd home in Wax and it's been great to pick things up after we were going to jack it in after Traffic. That's what it's been about over the past 5 years - getting over some of our favourite DJs and producers to play for in a venue where you can actually see them without binoculars or needing a loan from your credit union to get in.

Never actually thought we'd make 5 weeks, never mind 5 years but we've somehow made it this far and there are way too many people who have helped us out by giving us lends of gear, dj'ing or playing live for little or **** all cash, designing flyers, working on the door, handing out flyers, printing posters, putting posters up, writing good things in print, driving to the airport or hotels, - basically invaluable help that meant we could do EC like we do it. Don't have room to list all the names here but you all know who you are and big big thanks for everything. Biggest thanks goes to those of you who have rocked up to the club and shelled out the door tax on a regular basis because without you, the club really wouldn't have lasted 5 weeks. We hope it's been worth it - we don't think there's been too many shit nights through the years - we've met so many good people and friends through doing this and we're now looking forward to the adventures of the next 5 years.

So, enough of the Liverpool-on-a-European-night sentimentality and on with the music lowdown. Super super heavyweight line-up with a rare live electro set from The Advent and a DJ set from Chris Liebing. Both in Wax. 180 capacity. It's more monster than Eric Hall coming over a hill and the atmosphere will be boom boom electric for this night. The Advent's electro records have been the bomb for many a year and he never plays enough of it live in our book so we twisted his Portuguese arm for this occasion. Chris has been a regular guest to EC over the years and this bona-fide Family Guy has always rocked the club. Expect some special surprises from both guests for this night.

180 tickets only on sale. Considering the going rate in Dublin, we think it's pretty solid deal. And not too many of those left so potter on down to Gerry in Big Brother to get your mitts on one. Hey.

This Thursday sees part one of our 5th birthday celebrations and it's a line-up that would pack an Electric Shock.... Chris Liebing and The Advent with a rare live electro set for our traditional double birthday header as we transform Wax into a party zone.

We think this is possibly our strongest birthday line up yet. Year One, we had Speedy J & Ellen Allien in the Metropolitan while Year 2 we were in Traffic and Patrick Pulsinger played along with a return visit from the man who has played the Ambassador more times than Return of the Jedi, Vitalic. For Year three, Surgeon and Ben Sims played a special live/hybrid thingy and then last year we were on our travels again to Wax where Modeselektor blew the house down (and birthday candles while singing Happy Birthday)

This year, we are well chuffed that old muckers Chris and Cisco have come out to to play in such an intimate venue. Chris will be opening up the night at 11 and taking a break for some shots of Jagermeister between 12.30 and 1.15 before getting back on to rock out the night following the devastating electro sounds of The Advent. Come down and join us for a right old Mother Brown knees up of a party on our 5th - count em - birthday. Tickets are flying out quicker than an Air Traffic controller with the flu. So be quick. They are only available from Big Brother Records in Temple Bar.
