FBK (Kevin Kennedy) - Antherman [Sula Muse 009]
For it's ninth release, Paul Mac's digital based Sula Muse label is pleased to unearth yet more talent – this time from across the Atlantic. "fbk" (Kevin Kennedy) is an American techno producer with a mission: "Putting the funk back into so called minimal techno".
Since 1994, he has been honing and refining his sound which encompasses dark, hard, funky, extremely danceable and even dubby side of electronic music.
His releases on Frictional and Xplor are still sought to this day and considered underground classics. A protégée
of Dan Bell and Anthony "Shake" Shakir, Kennedy has learned his craft from some of the best, having worked with other renown artists such as Jay Denham, Paul Johnson.
The works featured here are two shining examples of the man's relentless pursuit of the funk extraordinary. "fbk" elaborates: "Anthermanis is the antidote to the sleepiness that currently prevails over the minimal community, hopefully it'll serves a wake up call! Minimal really doesn't have to mean static or boring."
"Hunt and Peak" continues to morph the boundaries with it's side winding rhythms and gritty feel - the future seems bright for this prolific creator.
