Stupid question, but where exactly is it? I can only see this on the website:
Locatie: Festivalterrein Spaarnwoude
Do you fly into Amsterdam and jump a coach/train? Is it far? I notice it finishes at midnight, do people bother with hotels, or just go into the local city and chill out there for a while before going to the airport?
Numeric mentioned this to me last night, and after checking out the lineup I am well keen to go. Looks mint!

you get a train from amsterdam central station to sloterdijk train station then theres an awakenings bus laid on to take you to the event.
all well organised,cant go wrong.
best to either get a hotel or get all greasy in a hostel. quality day out especially when the suns blazing like it was when i went.

I notice it finishes at midnight,
what???
its the first time i see a party end at midnight...
in portugal the partys start at 1h AM and usually are 3 days nonstop
the clubs and discos are the same open at midnight and close at 12:00 AM
even rock in rio in lisbon (a big party allmoust a size of a small town with techno , rock bands , hiphop) ends later and have 3 days too , and you can camp there
i miss the god old times... partys like tecnolandia , elektro parade , neptunus , liquid and solid... it was train to lisbon and adios ,fun for one week , sometimes i got home from that partys and barely remember my own name (i was 17 years old or less in that times)

yeah, all the dutch outdoor festivals I have been to seem to end around midnight or so... awakenings at gashouder though usually goes until about 7 am I guess.
I had a great time last year at Awakenings fest... looking forward to it again! And as someone else in this thread mentioned, after a full day outside drinking beer, by midnight I am happy to call it a night.

accomodation wise, depends what your after. either stay anywhere in the complete chaos of the red light area. or if possible find somewhere to stay around the 'pijp area' or the 'rozengracht' handy for getting anywhere and usually decent accomodation in these areas. check the NH hotels out, they might have some good deals on and the standard is good.
best bet is to get the train from the airport into amsterdam centraal, takes about 20 minutes.
afterparties wise....good luck with this. i couldnt find anywhere the last time i went and it wasnt for trying either. Club 11 or Studio 80 will be your best bets though for techno. If theres nothing going on here check out twsted cafe, they play minimal and techno till late...small cafe bar, cheap ale and smoke away to your hearts content.

Awakenings was amazin, they sure know how to put on a show and properly, spent most of the day in the Y tent, Kenny Larkin played a sick set, what i saw of Derrick May was poundin, caught Grindvik's PA which was quality, the start of Beyer's set was sick until i got dragged off elsewhere, caught the start and end of Mulero & Wunch who pounded it to f**k, and finished the night watchin Ben Sims who was as awesome as ever :)
caught DJ Bone playin an absolute belter to finish his set too, was gutted i didn't hear more of him, deffo gonna download that set, also saw bits of Gayle San, Marco Carola and the end of Andreas Kramer who was basically playin hardcore techno
missed PET Duo though which was a bit devastating

I dont think it was dat fast man,. it was abt 160-165 bpm.
still do i reckon he whomped it out,
i do think speed of music doesnt mean its harder.
and thats the best thing about awakenings festival , its not just minimal techno, It had everything. so regardless of the speed of there set, there was something for everyone
