This summer sees the 25th Anniversary of The Hacienda since the legendary Manchester nightclub first opened its doors in 1982. Peter Hook – New Order/Joy Division bassist & co-founder of The Hacienda is behind the launch of ‘Hacienda 25’ – a series of very special events to celebrate the life of the legendary club. The Junction and the Priory are proud to host the tour in Cambridge with a huge line up of original Hacienda acts. This is going to be an event not to be missed, so book early to avoid disappointment.
It was the club that is widely recognised as the birthplace of Acid House, and is responsible of shaping the face of UK club culture as it has since been known. It inspired a musical generation, defined a scene and put dance music firmly on the map in the UK then the world. Although the old site on Whitworth Street, Manchester has now been replaced with a block of flats, the feeling and energy behind The Hacienda, and those heady days will live one forever.
