I'm looking at picking up the Virus Powercore plug soon as possible but wondered what vsti's anyoen can mention that offer a good VSTi that can be used for analogue leads, something fat and beefy like monster munch?

Virus is Virus, but you can find some pretty good VSTs, too. From top of my head, Sylenth1, NI Massive, Minimonsta, ImpOscar, CV80, disco DSP Discovery, etc...

I use the z3ta through the D16 audio devestor (which is the sweetest distortion vst i have ever had) and that sound pretty fat. x

NI Massive is one of the few softsynths ive found with the kind of fatness that a virus has. Still not perfect, but a very good softsynth.

TONE2 Gladiator.

Absolutley AMAZING!

sorry ill have to disagree there.

take away the fancy fx on the supplied patches and the overall sound is pretty weak. dont be fooled by the bells and whistles.

I know agree with you. And you know what, when you all talked about sylenth 1 I thought you were mis-spelling synth 1 HAHAHHAHA

Sylenth 1 is AMAZING. But ive moved over to Logic 8, so have to wait for him to code it for Mac.

Canne Wait!!!!

Hey mate have to disagree with you there, though I once loved vanguard I think it sounds very hollow and weak in comparison to some other vsts !

But it is OK For layering I have found

Take a normal synth, and add a big bass boost, excitement and widening?

Much of the virus "sound" is supposedly in the signal chain it goes through before it comes out the box, not so much in the synth design itself.

I'm looking at picking up the Virus Powercore

I'd steer clear of the Virus Powercore until they sort out the stability problems. There's an online petition going around right now because the users are sick of TC ignoring them about the issues they're having with it.

Virus Powercore is notorious to be buggy on the Powercore DSP platform.

Give NI Massive a try, I was quite impressed with the sounds coming out of that

I really like Surge. Great for anything bass, pads, stabs.

Definitely. And most of the patches are relatively dry, so it's easier to get them to blend/sit in your mix (using bus effects instead of the effects in the synth.)
