View Full Version : Chris McCormack - Exit to Extinction

I remember a thread ages ago on here by Mark EG praising this album, saying it was full of his old work and then a whole load of new soundscape / electronica stuff, and imminent for release. This was back in early 2007. I hadn't heard anything of it, but when browsing Discogs saw this:
http://www.discogs.com/release/1280872
Yet it doesn't appear to be on sale anywhere - in fact there aren't even any places claiming it's out of stock, so did it ever actually come out and if not, what's the story?

So it turns out the distributor went bust before this could be put out far and wide. Copies will be as rare as hen's teeth then :(
But! Apparently it may be up online sometime in the not so distant future. Fingers crossed...

It was him that told me the current situation (I sent an email to Blacklisted as I couldn't find anything else about it). His quote was
"I am currently going to be getting it all online in the next few weeks so it should be availbale soon I hope."
So there you go. Maybe a few more emails / calls etc wouldn't go amiss, just to show him that there's some demand. I really wanted to hear the ambient stuff he did...the piece that features on Blacklisted 001 is one of my favourite pieces of ambient music.

Hello Guys :)
Just to let everyone know, Exit will hopefully be getting a proper digital release soon.
I have been able to expand it considerably without the imposed length limits of CD and currently it looks like it will now run over 4 parts: 3 albums and a remix release. Part 1 will now run to around 25 tracks rather than the 14 on the CD.
I don't have anymore info at the minute, but hopefully something will finally be up on the website with some more solid details soon.
Cheers, Cough, whoops sorry I mean Chris :)

So now's the opportunity for me to be smug. Somebody put this up for sale on Discogs yesterday and I had the good fortune to be checking items on my wantslist when they did so...so I snapped this up straight away.
Arrived this morning still sealed! Went straight for CD 2 and it's fantastic. Sombre, ambient soundscapes. Some beautiful work. Haven't got round to the new techno yet but rubbing my cock...er, hands together in anticipation.

Whoa, so there are copies available somehow?

Yeah, there are definitely copies around - I knew that anyway as the Discogs page has had the label art on it for ages and some people own it. I assumed it was going to be impossible to get though, one of those releases that went to a few people in the industry before being put on sale properly. Just didn't expect it to ever appear!
