To be honest mate, it isnt gonna make any difference what you pay for them, the sound quality is going to be the same. All screened leads will have the same noise ouput on an rca conection as it doesnt offer balanced line.

i'm aware and appreciate the fact that the signal will be un-balanced due to the RCA connection, but the quality of the cable and connectors will definatley effect overall sound quality. you can pay as much as £1,000 for a RCA to RCA cable of 1M, not that anyone would though.

Yeah i normally use richer sounds for all my other interconnects but they don't supply the above mentioned cable

Surely someone here uses the same type of cable??!! basically i need the cables for the master out & rec out on my Allen & Heath mixer........

i have these cables for my allen and heath and i bought them from Sound Control in Leeds. about 10 quid each but to me they're great for sound quality. you really don't need to go overboard on this mate, unless they're balanced you're not going to hear massive differences that will affect your mixes.

look for 30 quid ones of you really need to but i really think it'd be going overboard.

Cheers Mark, i know what you mean it's just i was after something a bit special for recording & sound out put from my PC (which too has 1/4" jacks, delta 66). Just had look on 'Sound Control' website - could'nt find anything above £3.99 (at 20ft) though, will have to e-mail or ring them i think..

Just buy the 1m RCA-RCA interconnect that you want and a pair of 1/4"/RCA barrel adapters....

Or you could always buy a standard lead and tell the shop to keep the change out of £30 if it makes you feel better about spending more...

Ok i get the point.........

I just didnt wait to spend £1,000's on new equipment and hold it's potential back by having crap interconnects.

Thanks for everyones contribution

If you know which end of a soldering pen is the end that gets hot, you might do yourself a great service by building your own cables. Seriously - cables built with proper, nice, expensive connectors and high-quality cable will cost you about the same as a store-bought cable in the end, but you'll have a cable that'll last you a lot longer and is a lot better quality. Consider Neutrik or Switchcraft connectors, Canare or Mogami cable (very expensive tho), or maybe Sommer cable.

I've been making my own cables for a while, and I find that while a 10' 1/4" patch cord costs me about $18 CAD to build ($4 CAD each for Neutrik connectors, $1/foot for good bulk cable), I can easily spend $18 at the music store on a cable and I don't get nearly the quality.

Building your adapters using high-quality componants would cost you about $15 CAD total (what's that, about 5 quid?) and you'd have parts to scavenge from years from now. :)
