Hi everyone,
As a cheaper option for now, is it wise for me to go for Studio Headphones rather than Monitors, as I dont want to spend money just yet on fixing the acoustics in my room and paying for quality monitors, will the studio headphones or IE (InEar) headphones do a great job for me?? Hope you can help, thanks!

as something to start out with they are perfect. if after a while you decide that making music is something you enjoy and are willing to invest in, then go for the monitors.

Depends how serious you are.
In any given situation I would take monitors over headphones any day.
The way the sound interacts with your ear is just so different with phones, even with the best in ears.
I`d say monitors. If you are just starting out, there are some great monitors you can get second hand from £150-£200
failing that, in ear phones are the future.

monitors, hands down. you can't use headphones as long as you can monitors. your ears get tired too quick.

I reckon you are totally right, Steve.
Just lately something (although rather pricey) has hit the market which
is nothing short of a revelation when it comes to headphone monitoring.
It's this one and i haven't read one bad word about it:
SPL Phonitor

Well, if you are keeping to a budget, depending on your budget I would say it isn`t worth buying anything brand new for less than 600 quid.
So my suggestion would be, decide your budget, then go to ebay and type "Studio Monitors" into the search engine.
See what is available and then do a search on http://www.soundonsound.com/ to get reviews of the monitors available.
Or pick the ones you find and link em up here and I could help advise you.
If your lucky you could pick up a great pair of good studio monitors for £100-£250
Best in ear monitors?
http://www.dv247.com/invt/47630/ pricey, but mind blowingly amazing.
http://www.dv247.com/invt/36411/ cheaper, but still blows away most sub £200 over ear phones no problem.
