As we draw closer to the Christmas period, we decide to leave you charged up for the festive holiday and deliver another upfront crippler of a podcast. London based superclub, Fabric, have been doing resident shows on Clubbed Up for over 12 months now, bringing the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Steve Bug, Luciano and many more big hitters to the show… this week its time for another legend to take the reigns!
This weeks guest mix… John Tejada.
John’s fascination with music production began when he was just 4 years old and began training in live instruments, by 12 he had his first turntables and at the tender age of 15 he hit the electronic music phase and created his own music and sound which was set to change the music world in the early 80’s. Typically in that era, John was hugely influenced by the acid house scene that exploded worldwide and later on the techno sound that developed from it. His recorded output ranges across tempo and genre lines, from chilled out affairs with spacious arrangements to pulsating, densely layered, deeply energetic tracks that work magnificently in the hands of DJs as well as on the home stereo.
Fast track to the summer of 2004, and John would - in one week - created the two songs that would catapult his techno career. The classics were released almost at the same time on two different labels. “Sweat” was released on Pokerflat and “Mono On Mono” on Palette. Together the two records sold over 23,000 copies on vinyl. This lead to the equally successful follow up singles Paranoia, Mind Bend, Voyager and The End Of It All. John’s productions made him a global superstar and spurred him on to achieving great success across all continents.
John began travelling internationally in ‘97 to showcase his DJ skills around the globe, travelling to more than 20 countries and playing various clubs and festivals around the world. Festivals included Movement (formerly The Detroit Electronic Music Festival), Sonar Festival (Spain & Tokyo), Dance Valley (Netherlands), Sync Festival (Greece), Mutek (Mexico), as well as internationally known spaces such as Fabric (London), Yellow (Tokyo), Rex Club (Paris), The Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles) and many more.
A career this huge is hard to pick out the best points because this man his been there and done it, so let the music do the talking and don’t miss this unbelievable mix!
