FA-101 - red and proud
Edirol have added FireWire to their range of audio interfaces with their new compact, 10 in and out interface. The new FA-101, is a 10 input – 10 24bit 192kHz capable bus-powered audio interface featuring 2 premium mic preamps each with phantom power, 6 dedicated TRS balanced inputs & 8 dedicated TRS balanced outputs. The half-rack unit has a front-mounted optical S/P DIF input & output and rear accessible MIDI input & output.
The FA-101 offers simultaneous 10 inputs & 10 outputs at up to 24-bit/96kHz audio quality on both PC (ASIO2.0, WDM) & Mac (CoreAudio) capable of running completely from the power of the FireWire bus. In addition, it supports stereo in and out at 24-bit/192kHz. For computer with 4-pin FireWire ports, the FA-101 can also be powered by the included DC adapter.
The FA-101 comes with a flexible control panel for routing various inputs & computer signals to different tracks & outputs, offering a new level of audio recording & playback capabilities to the mobile recording & performing musician. The home recording musician can now track many different instruments directly from a laptop.
“This FireWire product along with our hi-speed USB2 interface, the UA-1000, sets Edirol apart as the first company offering products using both high-speed serial interfaces,” commented John Broadhead, lead product manager for Edirol North America. “A customer can now focus on features such as sound quality rather than first letting the type of interface dictate a direction.”
The FA-101 lists for $695 and will be available in April 2004.
