depends on the spends - i use sonalksis comp - its very nice - there TDK filter is a nice bit of kit too - i use oxford eq (like that alot) and effex the d16 devestor. those are the only treats i could afford - the rest i use come with ableton or freeware
mind found some good freeware - audio damage rough rider is a nice comp (i like it for kicks and snares) a nice delay imo is TAL audio dub delay

no worries -would be lost with out the Tal dub IMO a good freeware delay - still looking for that perfect delay mind - i love the digi delay that comes with reason but not found any vst that works in the same way

tony... what do you use L2 for?

I generally avoid limiters like the plague.

I'm being slightly misleading here....I never use it for production but I quite often use it in combination with the API EQ's to apply basic mastering for my tracks. Nothing as fancy as that provided by a real mastering house but I find with regular referencing along with regualr switching between speakers, headphones etc, you can often achieve a pleasing result.

I also sometimes apply gentle limiting to mixes to make them louder and smooth out the dynamics. Either way, the L2 is the best software limiter out there (in my opinion).

synths:

Sylenth1 (my favorite softsynth of all time)
NI Massive
3Osc

FX:

Waves Platinum
Ultrafunk
Predatohm
PSP Warmer
PSP Stereo plugs
Glitch

I try to keep the amount of plugins I use to a select few so I can get the best out of them. Ive have used this combination for a while and I can get the results im after quickly.
