sounds like me a few months ago! seriously, for a while i just couldnt get bass nailed at all!
its all stuff youl have to learn along the way, as everyone on here has! there are so many different ways and techniques for creating basslines, and there are more than 1 topic on here about bass so have a search!
big props go to Ze Migl, he has helped me alot in this area and in general!

what i like to do is in a bar i split it in half so ive got 2 lots of 8 and i have the same sequence playing in both of these so it repeats itself after half a bar if that makes anysense, this is good for a hi energy feel but with a bit of funk still, if you want a real hard driving sound try one with just 2 notes repeating, for a funkier sound write a sequence that lasts the full bar instead of doing what i said about splitting the bar in half.
