laptop's making a mental noise

laptop s all of a sudden started making a crazy noise.....

its kinda like a constant buzzing but quite loud and annoyin

a know its a vague description but anyone know what it could be?

Where does the sound appear to be coming from?

your hard drive?

maybe you can make a video on your phone and upload it?

Does the noise persist after restart?

If its not coming out of the speakers, then realistically you have to put it down to the moving parts.

This could be either:

Hard Drive
CD Drive
Floppy Drive
CPU Cooling Fan
Any other system fans

Failing hard drives tend to have a very distinct sound to them, so see if you can record it like C.O.Prodigy said.

its not the speakers.... cant make a recording of it cause a stood on ma fone last week now its goosed....

its defo one of the moving parts, from the sounds of it its coming from the right side (kinda were the return and backspace buttons are on the keypad)

its more or less constantly on.... before a shut it down there it was acting like it was going to take off

any of yous know what im looking at to get it repaired? or even roughly for getting a moving part repaired?

Without knowing the schematics of your laptop, its hard to say. Does the sound click a lot in random patterns? If not, it sounds like a fan thats vibrating. If its your hdd though, make sure you back up the important stuff asap.

That happened to mine a couple of years back. It was a headcrash. New HD time. Get EVERYTHING backed up ASAP.
