Been using a BCR2000 for a while, recently added a Novation Launchpad to the setup. However, in India powercuts are a regular annoyance, so I'm looking for something that's USB powered.
Thinking about getting one of these:

Any thoughts?

Nice looking bit of kit. Id like to see it in action. I recently purchased a Korg NanoKontrol and NanoPad- USB powered and Tiny. Very very hard going bits of kit and ridiculously cheap!

What makes you say that?

You're not allowed that. It's too cool looking for you and was designed for use with VJing.
(buy me one and I'll let you get one) :P

just my personal tastests. i am working on Live, where apc benefits from smarter implementation to an application. you have got bit more sort of organized control on the things + full 8 chanel mixing surface. Ohm has only 4 full-control channels. 8x8 grid of buttons which is pretty nice, but i am missing faders right beneath em. controller looks pretty and is deffinitely worth thinking about, if you're not working in Abelton Live.
indeed Ohm benefits of USB powering, which is good.

I have a Launchpad for launching clips, so I'd probably look at using the grid on the Ohm for doing some Monome-style step sequencing or something.

hi-speed USB
its ace, took a while to get used to, because it works slightly differently to other controllers.
Its uses a software server, which acts as an intermediary between the controller and whatever needs to be controlled. Which is a bit confusing at first, but then quickly becomes amazing because you can have loads of different midi maps saved on top of each other. So one map controls your DAW, another map your FX, another map a softare instruments and you can quickly flick through the maps to control whatever you want.
Plus pretty much every plugin ever comes pre-mapped - so you can just choose what pot or slider controls what function using a nice visual display, instead of having to map CC numbers, of twiddle every knob you want to control every controller.
Big thumbs up so far.

Really? It doesn't need plugging in to the mains?

Doesn't need be plugged in, runs fine off USB although you can plug it into the mains if you want.
