Akira @ The Hoxton Pony: The Akira ethos is to promote nothing but good music, booking great up and coming artists or those on the cusp of bigger things. Akira is a filter for new music. We are a Production House and we are intent on exposing the best new talents and the most exciting music we can find through our regular nights in London. We will keep you up to date with what we think you should be listening to through interviews and blogs. The bands/artists we work with range from Folk/Rock to Indie/Electronica - anything that is breaking boundaries and anyone that is doing something different, doing something fresh and exciting.

At only £4 entry, four fantastic bands play each night, a showcase for the most exciting new bands on the circuit, a showcase for the artists of tomorrow...

On Wednesday 7th July at the Hoxton Pony we bring you -

Shura Denton - http://www.myspace.com/shuradenton

Shura Denton featured at the last Akira and was such a hit with the crowd we had to book her again. Shura is a storyteller and a fantastic talent, mixing Folk, Trip Hop and R'n'B using her delicate and seductive voice, her fascinating song structures and a loop pedal, as well as a great multi-instrumentalist who accompanies her. "Cryptic lyrics, intense emotion and a smoky, effortless voice."

Alpines - http://www.myspace.com/alpinesmusic

This is a BRAND NEW band, their first gig and we are proud to be presenting them at Akira! Mixing two experienced musicians that are both in their own right familiar with the London gig circuit, this a project that has a very bright future. Sounding like uplifting yet haunting Electro Night-Pop - Bat For Lashes meets Justice meets Joy Division.

The Black & Reds - http://www.myspace.com/theblackandreds

The Black& Reds are a very experienced band who gig regularly in London and all over the UK. New Wave, Brit-Pop, Rock. This band tear up the stage and have been wowing audiences to such an extent they have built a following from Manchester to Camden.

LOS - http://www.myspace.com/wearelos

This is one of the best unsigned bands you will see in London - FACT! Mixing Blues, Grunge and Indie. An amazing drummer, an amazing guitarist and an amazing female vocalist - with a synth bass.. This is a band made up of very accomplished musicians, the riffs are powerful, the music is intense, the band is incredibly tight. If you like The Black Keys, if you like Muse, if you like Jimi Hendrix - or even if you're not remotely interested in any of them - you will love LOS. Cancel your work do, cancel your BBQ, cancel that date to the cinema - this band is a must see!
