Aphex Twin Says He Has Six Albums Completed

http://media.prefixmag.com/site_media/uploads/images/post/a/aphex-twin/Aphex+Twin_jpg_200x375_q85.jpg We haven't seen an album from Richard D. James' well-regarded Aphex Twin (http://www.prefixmag.com/artists/aphex-twin/) project since he put out Druqks all the way back in 2001 - but that might be changing rather quickly. In an interview Mr. James gave to fashion magazine Another Man he mentioned quite candidly that he has a lot of new music on his hands.

“I’ve got six albums completed. Two are very non-commercial, abstract, modular-synthesis, field recordings – those I finished four years ago. Another one is Melodies From Mars, which I redid about three years ago. There’s one of stuff I won’t go into; a comp of old tracks which is never really finished and always changing; and then one I’m working on now. There are also loads of tracks which don’t belong anywhere."

There has been a few rumors (http://www.prefixmag.com/news/new-aphex-twin-album-on-warp-rumored-to-be-imminen/44005/)swimming around about an imminent release of new Aphex Twin (http://www.prefixmag.com/artists/aphex-twin/) material, and this quote seems to confirm that we're at least going to see SOMETHING under the moniker pretty soon. Considering how Richard D. James is one of the most adored electronic musicians of the past twenty years, expect a lot of hype. Warranted hype, but hype none the less. I've seen him play some amazing dj sets. Strange journeys through electronica, house, techno all the way to horrorcore. ****ing inspired.

"Mike and Rich expert knob twiddlers" was really fun, lots of people seemed to overlook that album.

yeah i am only judging him by one gig. he was playing noisy drill n bass the whole night. mind you this was back in 01.

circa druqs era.

he is a legend musically. a true pioneer.

Tech?hellNO!

Yeah I've seen him a couple of times and been disappointed, although both times were quite a while ago... was massively into glitchy drill n bass back in the day, Richard. D James is prolly my favourite album, although Vordhosbn or nanou2 off of druqs are prolly my two favourite tracks of his.

I love Classics, Ambient works and some of the Analord stuff

The rest is alright at best, self indulgent noodling mostly

He's the Banksy of the electronic music world - Early stuff was truly something different with a voice of its own, moving swiftly into re-hashed versions of himself followed by a large dose of sell out at the end

IMO

Saying that his DJ set at Glade 2005 was something else, played everything from Chicago house, NWA & Public Enemy to dark minimal acid and a liberal dose of gabba. My mind was well and truly blown

i like his earlier stuff.

my list:

1.selected ambient works vol I
2. I care because you do
3.Come to daddy
4. Richard D J albm
5. Some singles of his analord project.

I also liked couple of mixes from cash for mixes compliation and druqs although the so mentioned album was a hugh disappointment.

liked the tuss moniker as well.
