Arturia develop virtual Minimoog

Following the release of virtual versions of the Moog Modular and Yamaha CS80, the Minimoog is the latest classic synth to be rendered as a plug-in by Arturia; the French software company have announced that Minimoog V will be released later this year.

Created using Arturia’s TAE (True Analogue Emulation) technology, Minimoog V promises to provide a faithful recreation of what is arguably Bob Moog’s most influential creation; in fact, the software synth has been developed with the blessing and support of Bob Moog himself.

Minimoog V also features a range of rather less authentic, though very welcome, features, like polyphony, MIDI control, and preset management. A modulation matrix, an LFO, an arpeggiator and chorus and delay effects are also included. Minimoog V can operate in stand-alone mode under Windows (ASIO and Direct Sound) and OS X (Core Audio). It’s also useable as a VST, Direct X, RTAS and HTDM plug-in for Windows, as a VST, MAS, RTAS and HTDM plug-in for Mac OS 9, and as a VST, RTAS, HTDM and Audio Units plug-in for OS X. It’s planned for release in March, with pricing yet to be announced.

Arturia have also announced version 3.0 of their Storm virtual studio software for Windows and Mac OS X. The new version features unlimited rack space, allowing the user to load as many instruments and effects as their computer will allow. There’s now a piano-roll MIDI editor and the redesigned mixer features new EQ and routing capabilities, while a new sound module provides 220 GM sounds. The upgrade will be available at the end of March, and will cost $149.
