A brief history of the label..

Established in 2000 by Jerome Hill, Don't has stood its ground amongst the blandness and sheep mentality that pollutes the techno scene.. Don't releases music by a whole range of un-like-minded producers and its aim is for the tracks to stand out in a set, meaning that if you like "safe bets" and lowest common denominators then you should look elsewhere.
It began in early 2000 as an outlet for Jerome and Rob Stow to put out music from their 'Groove Asylum' project, but soon expanded to include a rich roster of international techno freaks, each with their own distinct style. Strictly no identikit techno allowed!

During the nineties, techno was on fire, it was an exciting time to be going into record shops.. There was no fear amongst producers to experiment a bit and sound individual, in fact it was encouraged and the genre was defined by its diversity.. As Jeff Mills once said when asked what is Techno: It's something you've never heard before.
These days sadly, the market has become saturated with boring non committal sound-alikes that are sadly lacking in the testicular department, 'hard' is frequently pronounced 'fast' and 'minimal' is confused with 'funkless'.
Techno has been diluted right in front of our eyes, it's spark removed in a sterile environment and the rough edges sanded down.. Health and safety gone mad you might say!

Fortunately it's not all bad, there are still DJ's, producers, crews, labels and sound systems keeping the funk alive, but no longer a regular bi-monthly independent night in London to go and get your fix so if you like techno, in any of it's shapes and sizes, please show your support and come down! There's a monster line up for the first party that will be announced shortly and if all goes well then you'll have a regular local techno night to go to when the itch needs scratching.
This night aims to represent those who are doing their own thing and doing it well, be it techno, acid, wonky, rave, old skool .. Sub genres aren't important..

We've got a wicked venue.. very underground (literally), can hold 200ish and is excellent for public transport being in the heart of Dalston.. The door price will be kept low and the bar is reasonably priced (2 beers for £5, spirit and mixer for £3.50)
