yep, i know the feeling. What's also great is after a phew years discovering a b side track of a record wich you turned the a side for years. But then you discover that the other side holds a great track as well

yeah I do this every now and again, finding loads of " first of's " like Form 1, Lifeform 1, Construct Rhythm, et al...

hehe

i've only been buying for about 2 or 3 years now. so 1st of's is a little before my time

some of my favorite records are some of the first ones i ever bought...you know, when you don't really know exactly what you like so you buy a bunch of random records you might not even take out of the bins now. one of my all-time top 5 is a record called "early worx" by anonymous. no idea who he is, or what else he's done, but it's just the most beautiful synth techno.

I do this all the time! I've been having more fun lately busting out some "should have been" classics that people get down to all the time. Makes you really wonder if people are just jaded about techno these days or if there really was something in the water years ago.

i think when things are around long enough, they cease to be so groundbreaking. i mean, think about when the swedish guys started getting big. it sounded like a breakthrough. or, before that, plastikman! i listened to sheet one twice in a row one evening last week, and i'll be damned if it's not still the best techno album i've ever heard. that s*** takes you places, makes you imagine things other than just BASS and DRUM LOOP.

Well...the swedish guys got big for a reason. The stuff back then personally got me a lot more excited than it does now. But I agree with you totally. I've been playing a few classic Plastikman cuts the last couple weeks (Alphawave 777 or whatever, and Krakpot) and goddamn...they get the crowd going more than any promo or "hot techno track of the moment" in my bag right now. (Maybe it means I have shitty records? :))

i've been caning "panikattak" and all of sheet one lately...plus "the wipe" and a whole mess of m-plant records.

I pulled out the code red remixes, namely the Shufflemaster remix...what a track.

Plus some of the various artists compilations on Electracom...there are literally heaps when you spend the time to go through your older stuff.

Plus it interesting to see how your tastes have changed, progressed, regressed, whatever...

coincedently i was listening to some of my old records the other day, i came across pgv 07, a hard, acidic, minimal monster. surely one of the best releases from pounding grooves. another one i stumbled upon was planet rhythm special 11, rat patrol, and changeling, from mike humphries. despite being 5 yrs old, it is still the best mike humphries release i have ever come across.
