Hi all
im looking to buy a drum machine(i want some hardware) i know most ppl will say get a 909 but for the price and the age of them i dont want to get one. ive seen the jomox xbase 09 looks the dogs bollox just wondering if anyone has used one and is it any good for techno. what other drum machines are worth looking at.
cheers.

The XBase-09's kick drum is arguably the stompiest kick out there - can put the TR-909's kick to shame, which is saying a lot. The snare is also totally wicked. A lot of people don't like the highhats at all tho.
IMHO, the best all-round drum machine money can buy is the MachineDrum.

Electron machine drum , real good in my opinion, just sold my 909 but i would never ever sell my electron , its giving me new sounds not the old tired old roland ones and their variations and copies.

ive got an xbass and it rocks. its true the hi hats are a little too crunchy for my tastes but the bass drum is awesome.

by the way unless U plan going live I would set my eys on the "studio/ rack" version the airbass 'cause u have lots more sounds and potencial!

Drumstation still does a preatty good job with the 909 / 808 4 very little money, although the outputs r really noisy!

I disagree - I think the XBase-09's onboard sequencer is a BIG part of its potential. :)

Sure m8 but if u are working mainly from the studio enviorment u probably apreciate more the extra sounds... The editing is a bit of a bitc* but with CC and a seq. in yer PC/ mac the world is yer oyster!

the xbase very limited polyphony is often an issue for people, fyi...
If thats a problem, the Airbase has up to polyphony up to 9 voices.
I imagine the Xbase is much more intuitive to work with though.

i picked up an airbase this spring. it sounds awesome. it can sound just like a 909 or 808, and can do lots that they can't. the hi-hats are pretty raw sounding, but i'd rather have something nasty to tame than something tame to try to spice up.
has anyone played one of the vermona analog drum synths? i haven't - only learned of their existance today, but they looke pretty cool.
