Surely the longest running acid techno label, Stay Up Forever has been around for bloody ages! A quality label run by sound people. Which SUF & SUFR tracks have you enjoyed most over the years? For me, highlights have been:

SUF14 - A+E Department - The rabbits name was...
Such a cool track & one that really got me into the acid techno sound.

SUF16 - Dynamo City - Urban and free.
I really love the chilled out sounds in this track.

SUF18 - Secret Hero - Control.
A classic IMO, quite dark, and atmospheric.

SUF26 - Secret Hero - Multiform.
Again, a really atmospheric track for me.

SUF33 - Star Power - X-Ray OK.
Proper avin'it anthem!

SUF48 - Crash 'N' Burn - Santa Pod
Again, almost anthem like track & a complete & utter classic!

SUF69 - Dynamo City - One night in Hackney.
Love it for its humour, and although its gets on my nerves a bit now, I feel this track brought a lot of interest to the scene from people who would never have normally looked into it, and for that, it has to be given credit.

And all the Rozzer's Dog releases! With the best for me being, The pimp, the pusher & the panther, which is an absolutely awesome track, and World War 303, which sounds proper nuts on a phat system!

I love the way Stay Up Forever has moved with the times & I still love the releases that are coming out now, as much as I did the tracks of old. A brilliant and consistant label IMO. Which tracks do it for you?

Stay hard! Stay Up Forever!

Si the Sigh

High noon in Gotham City is quality! (Didn't it get released on COSHH first of all, and then released & remixed on SUFR? :eh: )

jonnyspeed
12-05-2004, 11:57 AM
noooo! High noon in Gotham City was just too much cheese even for SUF - like that feel the force rubbish on WahWah. Maybe I just divn't like techno remakes of 1970s programmes unless its Why Don't You? or Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics

Yo!

Some of my favourites:

SUFR 3 Acid war remixes - The Liberators mix is one of the best acid tunes I've ever heard, imho, dark as you like with wicked acid.

SUFR 2 Rabbits name was mixes - I think I like the Kris Needs mix better than the original (close call tho!) its a bit longer and more mental(!)

SUF 18 Control - when this tune kicks in after the break, its ****in awesome, saw Header play this @ Havok's 7th birthday, was top!

SUF 25 (the sound of a million 303's kicking the shit out of each other!!!), 26 (nice & dark), 29 (even darker...), 37 (straight ahead), 51 (hash fudge dave), 41, 38(or was it 39, rozzers dog..), **** it, I'm hard pushed to think of a crap one (tho not too keen on the more recent ones....)

Sim.

wheres the best place to find tracks on this label??

Most of the older releases are seriously hard to get hold of. You'll be looking at 2nd hand shops or on the net in the for sale sections. Best places to buy new, well check the online shopping forum or techno x-change & scan the record shops listed. Oh yea, some of the older SUF releases can be bought from www.djneeds.com They are 2nd hand & the tunes fly in and out pretty quick so keep an eye on the site. Hope thats some help. ;)

Hmmm, my fave
Firefight by cosmic trigger
Or maybe SeeSaw by carbine
no wait, build up the pressure by secret hero
or maybe the pusher the pimp the panther by Rozzers Dog
no, hang on, it`s definitely Control, by Secret Hero.

I think you get my point. Too many classics to pin down a fav.
The early releases are still unbeatable, and the stuff of the last 2 years has never really come close. To those that missed the classics, you really missed a good thing.
I aint never gonna part with my collection of SUF 1- 45

"SUFR 2 Rabbits name was mixes - I think I like the Kris Needs mix"

hehe- i think it's more down to Henry's studio prowess. i always got the impression that he was the driving force behind the Needs stuff.

my faves (generally have the Henry Stamp of Approval on them) are:

Glass Ball (love the kinda deathray sound that blasts through the breakdown)

Silver Surfer (great acid lines, good braking sound, love the dark trancey middle section)

Fire Fight (will never forget this tune, the first time i heard It's Not Intelligent and this track's acid line drops like a bomb, it changed me)

Control (what to say..)

Psychothrill (proper mind****er, also love the remix on SUFR)

Rave (so creaky and Lawrie)

Multiform/Speedfreak (**** me, what a record)

The Pusher, The Pimp (also like the flip, but it goes on too long IMO)

X-Ray OK

Stay Hard (one feels the kickdrum in one's scrotum)

Unlucky Punk

General Narcotic

Acid Culture (nice production, evil acid elements)

also have a soft spot for the B1 on SUF10, but i can't remember the name.
