Spend less on the mixer and more on the monitors definitely unless you really need to record lots of things at once, Mackie make great mixers but you'll probably find yourself doing most of the work on the PC which you can connect directly to the amp if you like and not use a mixer altogther. You'll probably go a lot further with no mixer and a set of Mackie actives ... although you'd need a volume control then :)

i see wot u mean, il probably spend more on the monitors but i was under the impression that they were decent monitors? and i do want a mixer as ive numerous outputs thru my soundcard and i can mix the 8 outputs with the mixin desk and also run my sampler (when i get one) thru it and also any synths that im gonna get.

Mark - dunno always thought they were lacking a bit of definition at the bottom and were a bit soft at the top end, but it's years since i heard anything on them... Doesn't mean you can't get a great result with them but as you are going to have them years from now and you are going to hear a lot of music on them getting the best pair to start with isn't half a bad idea

Mark... I the speakers I got over at the shop (Alesis Monitor 1) I notice a slight deep around 170 Hz so most of my mixes end up over punchy... DO u notice anything alike...

Mind u that I'm obliged 2 use a wrong placing 4 the speakears, so it might be this... that's why I'm asking....

But most things sound really clear and nice in the studio, but when I play'em out they just lack defenition (around the mid range and also near the 5KHz).... a really over punchy!!

    :?
