    Default Studio furniture

jsut wondering if anyone had any tips on studio furniture, im talking a nice big desk to house my pc monitor, monitors and keyboard and hopefully space for a rack on the desk to hold my amp and any other rackmounted kit i get. also need space for mixin desk too

seen a couple of ordinary office desks that would do the job but could anyone recomment anything else?

I'd go with the biggest desk top from Ikea and two trestles. Two breeze blocks will support your computer monitors on a plank with 5U of rack space on each side and in the middle. Been fiddling with the design for years and this is by far the best.

    I'll mail you a picture :)

    Default furniture

Ive just built a phattie desk out of ridgeons structural timber joists....
I incorperated 2 26u racks, space for a mackie 24, 3 2u racks above the mixer and a shelf that slides back so you can get to the inserts, 2 drawers, speaker shelves, pull out keyboard shelf etc etc... Took about a day with a skilsaw and battery drill, but it looks the dogs bollocks its sturdy as ****, and it cost under 80 scroats - I'll post a pic on here asap... I definitly recomend getting creative yourself. Even if you have to hire the tools, it'll still work out much cheaper, and better too as its fully customised... get a builder mate round if you are a bit unsure and let him shag yer missus if he helps you...it'll be worth it!

Ps. I bought one of those (jerka?) ones from ikea and the bolts were all missing - Took them 4 months to order me some in!!
it wasnt half as good as what ive got now and was a bit more quiddage too.. but they probably are the next best alternative to building your own

I've just ordered a Quiklok Z555 with loads of options which will house - Master Keyboard / PC / PC monitor / PC keyboard / Studio Monitors / 19" rack mounting for 20 units. When you add it all up it's quite expensive (£565) but it takes up less room and you can still add to it and it's built like a tank so I thought why not.

speaking of all that quicklock gear, my dad converts trucks for specialist purposes so he works with metal a lot...when he saw some of the prices i was paying even just for a blank panel or a rackstrip he was shocked!
We are researching into setting up a studio furniture company of our own, basically the same type of thing as quicklok but we think we can cut thier prices in half and still turn a good profit....
all still very much at t6he research stage , but looks like something is gonna happen there...so watch this space!! (or a space in the back of SOS more like)

M8 I've just got the quicklok z555 thing too!!!!!

It's amazing!!!! Took us both about 1/2 to put the desk up (and 6 painful hours to rewire the bloody studio hahahha)

Man, it looks soooooo damn good. Set it up before the weekend and I can't w8 till tomorrow!!!

I mean, this is really the best furniture ever.
