    Default Pounding Grooves Question

how come the PG 10" are always same price as a 12" ?

jus put one on there & thought 'hang on.. 2 trax.. 10"... £6' then picked up a Cluster 12" that was also £6

i'm assumin 10" is chepaer to produce than 12" due to the smaller amount of vinyl, yet still standard 12" price ?

not bitchin. and i will continue to buy PG 10" no probs cos they rock.

    jus wondering

    ;)

You could argue the vinyl price is irrelevant and the cost reflects the talent of the tune. Then you'd get into big arguments about 4 track vs 2 track EP's though. In the end though I think it's just simplier to have everything at one price, especially when it's a well known name like PG that got a reputation behind him.

Actually the cost of making a 10" record is pretty much the same as a 12"

    Isolation is the gift.
Does anyone have courage to stand apart any more?

    actually i think it's a bit more
because of the non standard sleeve sizes and the processing costs
plus the pressing machines have to be set up for it.
i'm sure lawrie gives himself a good deal
but i wouldn't go for it myself.

Is there any actual benefit to using 10" though over regular sized records?

at the retail level the price is set by the shop. also the $1 per copy manufacturing difference pretty much disappears by the time the record ships from factory to distro to shop.
