Some of you are probably already aware of what a name the Italians are making for themselves at present.
I checked out Italian stuff at the midway point of last year... I was hoping there trance would be similar to Picotto's and through the old site on www.germantrance.com I was thinking that I may un-earth some gems for my record box.
A lot of the tracks were cheap, and more 99-01 time range....... and also quite poor. Some were boarder-lining cases and others were dreadful. Never the less, after hearing a recent M-Zone set and it was him who give me the confirmation in my mind to be patient, and to look Italian! Boy was he right.
My first purchase on Italian labels was ETX, Dance Pollution and Anthem mainly... these tracks had fairly wide bass lines and the kicks were ok. They were definitly different though, and were quite sinister sounding.
Soon after this... I got my first taste of newer stuff by Trance Generators! (I had had a few hit and miss in the past with them through german label Cases). It was a track by Attomic Alliance & Trance Generators - Rock to Da Beat and it was on Future Sound Corperation. And if you haven't heard this track yet, then DO SO! Lovely warped bass line and the most evil screeching riff that would set a bible on fire if one in the same room as this track playing.
I'v gone mad since then, and hunted down...
Luca Antolini DJ - who has produced some wonderful stuff on the label Red Alert.
Titanic Records who host one of my best finds yet from Italy, being TECHNOBOY!!!!!!
Subway Records - A twisted sample from star trek used well on the track Tamok - Resistance is Futile!
Kickin` Tunes - Home of the scary tune that will make you twitch more than being injected with speed in to the brain directly! Tronik - Nervous.
So I have concluded, that so far if your looking for harder edge of trance and something different, go italian!
What do you lot think?
