Default DVD Writers for the PC?

Currently happy with the PC setup at the

Im going to ditch running a DVD-R and CDR and just run one decent DVD-R and possibly run 3 Hard drives,

The DVD writer I am currently running isnt very good, when I burn something off I find it doesnt always open on other peoples DVD players. Its like the data is corrupt and I get a cyclic redundancy checks or something

Any suggestions on one that will last? Getting sick of replacing CDR drives I DVD drives last longer as they cost a lot of $$

I've had good results with the Sony Double Layer, dual standard model. At what speed does your DVD burn disks? If you're getting those errors, it probably means you just need to drop the burn speed, assuming you didn't think of that.

bah :P Le Ze Mingle wont mind

I have tried all the obvious things with this drive, i only burn on the bottom speed which is x2

    Ouch

I will try and get some lens cleaner for it if not I will look up these NEC ones

It is a cheap and nasty drive tho, when I got it at first I thought it was counterfeit goods
