invite you to the launch of their new 12”
“our friends electric”
Friday June 10th 2005
8pm start, £4 entry / £3 with Freakin membership.
The iwari robots have spent the cold winter with the warmth of analogue sounds, but the arrival of a new spring is cause for celebration and they’re bouncing back onto the scene with a long awaited 12” e.p. and help from Germany’s leading electronic music distributers, Neuton. The “our friends electric e.p.” is a collection of 5 tracks of electronic music, taken from the forthcoming cd compilation of the same name. Each artist featured on the cd, has a place on the e.p. with tracks from Robokid, Scape One, Namke Communications, Vector Lovers and Monofonix. With the exception of Scape One, the rest reside in York though Vector Lovers has current international appeal with several releases on Soma, his second album ready to be released very soon, and his first release “Tokyo Glitterati” used on the new 3 series BMW radio and tv ads. That isn’t to say he is the only one with this appeal as the legendary dutch label Djax Records prepares to release “Acid Jacks volume 1,” by Acid Phreex one of the many alter egos of Monofonix. York’s Freakin’ Radio (www.freakin.org) currently plays host to Namke’s weekly “Minimism” show, and Robokid’s fortnightly “Deep Space Broadcast” with both shows being picked up and listened to all over the world.
Taking place at The Junction, Leeman Road, York – location of the first Vector Lovers gig, the music will be a range of live electronics from the Namke Communications, Vector Lovers and Monofonix, with Robokid providing dj support. Expect a feast of electronic delights.
The gig starts at 8pm on Friday June 10th with a door charge of £4 or £3 to those with a Freakin’ membership card.
