    Default CD Writer

I was doing a favour for a mate copying some CD's and it ****ed up several discs halfway through the copy.....

Can anyone tell me why it is doing this, is it likely to be my PC or the cd's?

I dont think its the cds....but not sure on this type of thing....

Get yourself a plextor burner mate. I used to have a yamaha and the thing was toasting cd's for fun. In the end it just gave up so i got myself a top of the range plextor. Not only is it shit fast, i can burn anything at 48 speed(even 4 speed cdr's) and they work perfectly, and the thing has never corrupted a cd.

You can find the plextor drives all over the place as they are rated the best on the market. If your getting just a cd writer, then dont go cheap and get a really good one, and make sure it has burnproof. Here is their dvd/cd burner, http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=45468, this is the one i have, http://www.plextor.be/english/products/pxw482448A.html,
Just have a look through the plextor website and find the one you want,

    Default burning.

make sure in your Hardware Setting (Device manager) that all your IDE phripheral's are set to DMA (click the box) your Hard drive & all CD rom's should be set to this.

if you nead a new CD writer get a Lite On 48 x 12 x48 they only cost £38.
might sound cheep and nasty, NO FRILLS but take my work for it, instead of spending £100 on a plextor, get this.
it looks a bit box'y like a volvo, but it does the job realy well,,, i can burn a full disk in 3mins, its buffer under run aswell, so you can do other stuff on ya comp..

    i use nero.
if its ****ing up try clicking "determin maximum speed"... and the software will test the max speed you can write at.

like a i said ENABLE "DMA" on your hard drive & what ever CD roms / dvd roms you have,,,, this makes a helluva differance.
