Default a utility for splitting long audio files into loops?????

i remember one i stumbled across a utility like this in the 90's but didn't thiink much about it at the time.

Sometimes I have big long sessions at night with my synth and then go back the next day and chop up the recording into loops.

So I'm looking for something that detects the silences in a big long one hour audio file and can split it up into seperate loops and give them all new names.

This would come in handy for splitting up those non-wav sample cd's too..

    Any ideas?

I just use Acid for this sort of thing, but it does not automatically detect the silence as you already know. It's a lot of work, but worth it in my opinion.

If I had a tool like the one you speak of though, that would be very handy.

Soundforge will do this. Gives everything a nice "prefix" name and then numerical sets for all the loops it creates. You can adjust the sensitivity of silence it looks/works with.

    Yeh,
I use soundforge for that. I do find sometimes it's easier to do it all manually though 'cos it's more accurate and saves time trimming again when you just have to get that loop into a tune!

Recycle can do this quite easily, though I don't know if you can save the chunks as individual wav's or just in their native .rx2 format.

Why not just use the "Audio Clips" section of the playlist?
