    Pioneers of techno for me.

Kraftwerk. The fathers of techno. Kilng Klang Studios 1973
Nick Turner. Co founder of Hawkwind, was playing electronic dance music (could be deemed early trance) in 1977 and was waaaay ahead of his time.
    Throbbing Gristle. Industrial/Noise/General madness
SUF collective for taking something out of the dirt of the underbelly of the underground, and making it work.
    SPK. Sound pioneers
Luigi Russolo. without him there would be no techno at all. The original audio pioneer.
    Solitary by nature.
    Isolation is the gift.
Does anyone have courage to stand apart any more?

Agree with a number of those.

For hardcore, some people who shanged it up a bit and marked different direction:

    D.O.A.
    Speedfreak
    Micropoint
