    Default Being 2 Technical?

Ever heard mixes from DJ's (Any Genre) that **** around TOO much with effects and Scratching???.

I mean fair play We know that certain DJ's are talented and have 'Skillz' but come on when I'm in a club I want to hear & enjoy more than 30 seconds of one track without it being 'Flanged/Filtered/Scratched/(Enter Some Other FX/DJ Trick Here) over.

    Opinions?

Yeah. I mind one time hearing Dave Clarke in the Arches and just thinking "Leave the ****ing fx alone for a bit!". Last time I heard him he was spot on though.

definitely it kills the music. it is interesting and all but simply i wanna listen to music not to scratching and pulling out the trix.

UMEK's Time Warp mix, of late, comes to mind. I thought he used way to many effects and hardly let his mixes go for too long. Could that be what was asked by the A&R? He can do much better.

i think it´s good for homelistening when someone scratches a lot and uses fx, not for the dancefloor though

alot of DJ's arn't really creative enough to make plain records sound good, so rely heavily on fx to try to sound interesting. Don't get me wrong, effects can be used to good effect !! LOL , but you don't need to go OTT.
You ain't got time for FX if you're playing 3 decks!!!!

less is more i rekon, when used to enhance it can work really well, but generally people just use them to cover up their lame mixing and spoil the music by dropping efx every 2 seconds ;)

Just mix the thing. Let the producer worry about the bloody efx.

42 air fx and 32 kaos pads i also improvise on the guitar and the flute and the kazoo while i mix up a beat perfect blend of house trance hard house and techno from a large library of advert tracks on vinyl donated to me by my dad who wrote the music for the famous silvikrin hairspray ads.
it seems to go down really well at my local boozer

oh h, that is such a good post. i think i've wet myself.

    but i recently bought a efx 500

at the end of the day it's how you use these fx.

don't blame the technology, blame the numpties that have the money to afford it.

i have a three channel inexpensive Stanton mixer with EQs and kill switches, suits me fine. Never had any need or want for a Pioneer, as there's only one or two of the FX on it that I ever thought were useful.
