    Default Kick Drum roll?

Hi there peeps, sorry if i sound a bit thick but please help! Basically in my tracks i have usually made the drum rolls with snares. But am workin on a track now & want to us e a kick for the roll without it being too much. Can i use the same fat as **** kick i'm using all the way throught the tune? Do i have to kill the bass or something when i use it on a roll so that it does not sound so meaty! I have an example here... http://www.sendspace.com/file/gfarxe of a drum roll using a Kick which i took off a tune i have. Hope someone can help me...thanx

hi mate...will check yer track in aminute..

    some info before, though:

i reckon you would want to shorten the decay (possibly release, dunno) just shorten the kick... depends on the length of the initial kick, though.. but as you said it's ''fat'' i reckon it's a longer booming one - so cut it so it's only a 16th note (or 32th) note long, depending on what you want roll wise. thing is you don't want them to overlap each other...if you use fruity loops there is a very easy way to do rolls. give me a shout if you do, mate :)

Whatever sounds good to you dude:)
What Loopdon said about shortening the decay would work well.

try using another (similar sounding) kick, against the one you are already using.
