Default Forward thinking artists/names for the BOA Radio Show

There's just so much good new and fast moving artists out there and Eyes hit it straight on the head that we could do with putting more of a focus on this on the show.

Who would some of you like to see on (not the obvious names)?

Myspace is proving a powerful resource too for me at the mo.. Has anyone got any good links to good fresh talent they have discovered along the way?

If I can get a nice list together of potential ppl to get in touch over the next few weeks based on this post and a few other ppl then I reckon I'd be super excited :)

i'd personally love to see people like John Beltran, Booka Shade (wow could they do a truely live set), Solvent (not techno at all but just amazingly well done electro pop)

its really hard to think of a list off the top of my head but they are the 3 artists i ave been mostly enjoying the past month or so

definately something to think about, i think the bigger names are becoming less and less important as a whole in the sense that alot of newcomers these days dont hold the older, bigger guys on a pedestal so much, usually a combination of working with them, playing the same gigs as them, getting to know them and realising half of them are cunts anyway etc etc

also gotta add i think the "pushing things forward" thing is stifling the thought process some what, i mean from a totally neutral point of view, who is actually pushing things forward to the point where there is a change occuring? put all your fave artists or artists people want to impress to one side and have a serious think. I honestly cant think of one person. I can think of people who are doing exciting things, intense things but i dont see anyone seriously breaking the mould as it were.

These days i tend to look for people who are making great MUSIC, not just doing the same tracks over and over again with their loop packs, and not even making groundbreaking or "forward thinking" music, just good, solid old fashioned musicianship with solid, well written songs. There are people about doing this, just gotta get out and look for them

So. Behind their eyes the hope in them was sickening, and in many, dead. They lived from event to event with a subtle terror of the gap between, filling up their lives with distractions to avoid the emptiness where curiosity should have been, and breathing a gasp of relief when the children passed the point of asking questions about what life was for.

Some people, old and new, that don't get the coverage they deserve IMHO:

    Tim Exile
    Tim Wright / Tube Jerk
    Leif Ryan
    Damien D'Omen
    Esther Ofei
    Cursor Miner

Any of those would be great to hear on the BOA show.

we shouldnt really have to name names. its all there for people to see if they want to... from Landstrumm to Makaton to Tony Rohr to Somatic Responses to Subhead to Kareem to Dirty Bass to Detfella to Dustin Zahn to DJ Boss to some hard techno dj to a minimal dj to some mashup dj to some dark techno nerdy dj to some electro pop dj - blah blah blah.

Why is this such an issue? Its friggin SIMPLE.

Id second that list. Cursor Miner & Tube Jerk would be esp great.

    Christian Vogel
    Dave Tarrida
    Neil Landstrumm
Mark Hawkins back to back with Luka Baumann ;)
    Tony Rohr
    Sunil Sharpe
    Terrence Fixmer
    Hellfish
    whatever.....

even if you could get dudes from boa like essence, fac, rotten, eyes, detfella, the divide, DB etc. It is BOA radio after all.

just not the same shite please.

Tim Xavier and Camea for some great and quite tough at times minimal stuff. Plus they'l play my last ep i did for them haha :)

nah in all seriousness this is a good thread, some great names popping up. Ive taken somewhat of a sabbatical from djing as ive lost a lot of love for just playing records but should have my live set sorted for the new year. There are some great performers on here though definately a blackout special would be good, get Steve to do the absolutely sick minimal/deep house pa he's been doing, truely, truely slick as you like. Lovely stuff

    My vote for:
    Steve
    Hawkins
    Landstrumm

    also been listening and enjoying
    Grindvik
    Grovskopa

Also fwiw, the most movement in terms of freshness
here in OZ is the whole spectrum of LivePA. Its really
started to gain some much needed attention. This is
where new sounds and styles are coming from.

I even got played on a popular national radio show
which was quite a surprize :) so it must hold some
merit and attraction. They dont play much Techno
on the radio here but they did this time. Really pimped
    the LivePA element the most...
