Reading bad things about sound quality and bouncers on Ush.net, but other than that it seems the Technodrome was going off! :)

well as soon as i got in there they gave me the timesheet. Mark EG was in the main room 9.00 - 9.45, then in the techno room 9.45 - 10.30. soon as i saw that i wasnt happy. saw the last ten minutes of him in tha main room, played a good mix of miro - purple moon which i was lovin.
Then went to the technodrome....saw the last 5 of Devastator, the sound not comin out of one speaker, and then horrid feedback noises. Mark came on with his cd's n vinyl in hand, and played acid sounding techno, i walked out half way through......why put it down on the flyer as 'technodrome classics' if its gonna be his latest stuff. put my night on a bit of downer really......well i enjoyed it on a whole till around 3 when vizitor made my head fall off my shoulders.....stayed till the end somehow and got the minibus home for 8 o clock.....not doin another rave for ages, unless its nearer Blackpool

so really mark should take some blame and make it clear on here what he was playing, especially after we had such a massive thread discussing it and asking him what he was going to do... if he mentioned the forum and how it helped him with the radio 1 thing, then it is equally as right to give us some feedback on such an issue as this

classics are classics and skelter mislead people as per usual.

sound system usually is crap, giving times out at the event is not right

raves in the UK ... a joke now... nothing like the european stage.

what happened in the UK whereby we lose the hardcore techno / speedcore and it is filled with all this slow techno, uninventive loop crap. music for pussies. fair enough people like it, but it is not hardcore and this very noticeable drop in performances of the real underground stuff coming out of germany/holland and france for something called 'techno' when it's just soft music in truth is annoying ....

all these djs sound the same... i remember hearing mark eg, ramos, billy bunter, ribbz, aggressor amongst others and thinking.... erm, did you all play the same tunes or do they all just sound like that? at least you got variation with drokz, producer, scorpio, clarkee, hms, lomas, the french djs, smurf etc... Each DJ brought a different vibe from the hardcore scene, but the so called 'techno' scene barely sounds different at all and is just loop after loop. I have more respect for the hardstyle genre.

this will piss off a lot of 'techno' heads... although i consider myself to be that very thing because if someone asks what i like, i don't say 'i am a hardcore techno head'.

if 'techno' really is about the future, then why is it always the same. the clarity of sound is clearer with new technology, but the music is all the same... there is far less variety within each genre than for all other dance music.

even in happycore you could play a set and make it sound very different with each tune, speedcore, hardstyle, trance.... plenty of styles..... but listen to a techno set and it's the bloody same... same formulas time and again...

it's up its own arse celebrating it's 'creativity'

sorry mate missed you. Met one of the lads from this forum - sorry forgot your name mate! Caught up with carl (acid bread) - good to see you again mate - love the bonzai t-shirt! Was at the back for about ten minutes but that was about 12.10pm. Night was ok. Bit dissapointed with the line up times. mark was on too early and I was lucky to catch the last 30 mins due to the fact that lofty was late (surprise!) Sound was shocking for most of the night. took me 1.30hrs to get in as well. Security were everywhere. Must have been 5 bouncers in the techno room walking around all night which did my head in all night. Doubt ill be going back there for a while. Shame really as I really like that club.
    something for your mind.........

    hi guys.

well if you'd have read the beginning of this thread you'll realise that i decided i needed to play techno, not hard trance. anyway... spent ALL week going through all the old hard techno i used to play in the drome - drop bass, industrial strength etc, worked really hard making sure i learnt all those classic tracks again, so that i could play well. and for 3/4 of the set, the sound was awful. no-one knew what was going on, the sound guys were just clueless - a complete lack of sub. finally the sound got sorted 3 records from the end. what a complete waste of time.

i really felt everyone's disappointment. i was gutted. i mean i knew that some ppl would be expecting hard trance but to be fair, it's not a hard trance room. but for those that understood what i used to play back in the mid 90's (lots of acid heheh), i really felt for them. i have no idea what the tape pack is going to sound like, it was almost impossible to mix.

well i suppose for three records at the end i felt that old technodrome buzz again and for that i need to be grateful. i spoke at length about this set before hand with andy vortex (who organises alot of the line-up's for these techno rooms) and he's more adamant than ever that techno rooms must be techno. i remember last time i played hardstyle in htid's techno room i got seriously linched by the techno heads at the end. after 6 hours of 160bpm+ hardcore techno, the last thing you want is hardstyle. so from now onwards, if i'm booked in a techno room at a rave, i wont be playing hard trance or hardstyle and if it's a classics set in a techno room, it will be the classic techno i used to play, not the hard trance.

sorry if it was a little unclear to a few of you, but if you read the thread from the beginning you'll see the way i was feeling about this months ago....:rockin:

ps i really wish they'd have put me on later too !!! ;)

I had a wicked time, was at the front of the queue so got in at kickoff, went straight to main arena where Mark was on.........3 of us had the floor to ourselves.......I was the old git with the Rammstein T-shirt dancing like the embarrassing uncle on "you've been framed" still who gives a 5hit, I loved it. Spent most of the night mooching around from room to room or standing in queues. the tills went down in the techno room bar just as i was getting served, so no drink. Bumped into Matt and Sam at midnight but got split and never saw them again. All in all it was a great night, I went for the experience and certainly got it. the crowd were really friendly, chatted to loads of people, a wicked atmosphere. I was seriously flagging by 4 am so I sat down in the main arena and soaked it up for the last 2 hours. first event and thoroughly enjoyed myself........will do it again

    **rolls eyes**

not too bothered at missing this now, as it was a classic trance set that i would have been there to see, plus clarkee's old skool set. That to me was the technodrome, the hard trance sets.

Thats where i first saw the likes of Mark EG and M-Zone playing & where i heard my first sounds of hard trance, and got me hooked. Techno was never on the agenda for me at that time.

    Just my opinion tho :cheese:
