Ok whats the best ? who do u think makes the better CPU ?
Ok whats the best ? who do u think makes the better CPU ?
i recon the amd's have it. I seem to get lower cpu loads with them though they fry a bit easy!!
Hmm well im not really sure as everyone i talk to says different, to be honest i think its abit like football, people support different sides ie: AMD and INTEL.
I heard both companies are bringing out 64bit CPU's soon.
AMD and Intel CPUs have the same problem: today new - tomorrow old you cant realy say whats better
I think it's more of a "tech-geek" vs. "non-tech-geek" thing. The AMD processors and the motherboards that support them (and the chipsets that support them), almost always have BIOS settings and jumpers for overclocking the processor, perfermance timing the DDR memory or similar things. I go with AMD - simply because its more efficient as a processor and you can get more out of it for much less money, and the options for performance are really good. The new nForce2 chipset by nVidia is a great chip (been using it for about 3 weeks now), and coupled with nice board (Asus A7n8x) it provides lots of possiblilties, along with ide raid, and 3.2Ghz memory bus and other things I'm forgetting off the top of my head.
...and that\'s all I have to say about that.
Ive just ordered the new gigabyte board with the Granitebay chip set which will let me have 4.2Ghz bandwidth but with DDR
i have heard that the pentium 4 (northwood) 0.13 micron 1.7 ghz will easily overclock to 3ghz . this can easily done with an overclocking board such as an Asus.
as the 1.7 chip is old now its very cheep to buy.
i dont know how true this is but it looks very attractive.
i did have my 1.2 celeron overclocked to 1.6 but i think it killed my m/b and ram!!!!!
so there is always a downside.
but they were both under warranty hehehe..
Well ive gone with Intel and the Pentium 4 2.4Ghz for now and the grantie bay chipset on a gigabyte motherboard
IMHO Intel's procs are far more reliable than AMD, though AMD has the speed advantage. If u are a game freak, then Ahtlon is the choice, if u do graphics / sound stuff, then Pentium has it.
Though i still have a Cyrix 166 :)

i dont give a shit to be honest - if i click a button and cubase5 comes up and works then im happy
i have a amd1333 in mine and a gigabyte mobo with 512 ddr - i never got half way up my performance bar on vst5 - and thats with about 20 tracks running with fx n shit
it does me - your all trainspotters :)
ACID HEAD..
what sound card you using?
audiophile 24/96
ok guys need conclusion on this soon!!!!
im gonna have a totally audio based system and i need the best processor for my system,
using reason, cubase sx, etc.
how about a mac
good call :P
I've got a 2000XP is that good?
