Virus is Virus, but you can find some pretty good VSTs, too. From top of my head, Sylenth1, NI Massive, Minimonsta, ImpOscar, CV80, disco DSP Discovery, etc...

my guess would be rgc audio z3ta. thats what i pretty much always use on leads.
I can personally vouch for Sylenth 1 :)
I use the z3ta through the D16 audio devestor (which is the sweetest distortion vst i have ever had) and that sound pretty fat. x
disco dsp discovery pro.
you can even use the virus soundsets in it.
NI Massive is one of the few softsynths ive found with the kind of fatness that a virus has. Still not perfect, but a very good softsynth.
Sylenth 1 and Disco DSP Discovery Pro all the way!

Everybody is in the place....! letz go...
TONE2 Gladiator.
Absolutley AMAZING!

But hey, I love my Shrooms!!!!
the z3ta+ virus mod!
Take a normal synth, and add a big bass boost, excitement and widening?
Much of the virus "sound" is supposedly in the signal chain it goes through before it comes out the box, not so much in the synth design itself.
Virus Powercore is notorious to be buggy on the Powercore DSP platform.
Give NI Massive a try, I was quite impressed with the sounds coming out of that
I really like Surge. Great for anything bass, pads, stabs.
