nice to see speed-it-up being an arse on another forum.

Innovators for me, shouldn't mean people doing something ''good'' now, it should mean someone who did something different, something INNOVATIVE.

So SUF/London style acid Techno was innovative, because it was new, it captured a moment, it changed ''things''.

Acid techno doesn't really sound like anything else so I'm happy to call it innovative.....but went stale.....personal faves are squat rock and x-ray ok.....twisted shit.

but then nobody moans about motorhead sounding like motorhead. for the last 30 years. see my point? in fact they would moan if they didn't sound the same. you can't win really.

I suppose if you're talking real innovators then nobody really comes close to aphex in my opinion.....really wierd shit that pushes all sorts of boundaries....I mean windowlicker was an MTV hit and pretty crazy electronica all rolled into one. different.

I just went and saw dj food doing a full av set on the weekend - now that is pushing the envelope - full sized cinema screen controlled by the dj - all in time - loads of samples - wicked.

obviously wasn't around back in the day but i can see why saunderson, atkins, may etc were all innavators. Obviously its a personal thing,, but if one can explain whats new about it and pushes forward new styles/ideas then i can't see why it wouldn't be!

dunno, never had any business dealings with Lenny Dee.

that wasn't the main argument against Regis in any case. The main argument was that Regis has never done anything innovative, an argument which still stands strong.
