Default Technics 1210 Ground Wire Problem

I've managed to accidentally pull the ground wire out of my turntable while in the process of moving it.

It looks like you have to open it up to get it back in. This ever happened to anyone else? Where can I get it fixed?

    Any help much appreciated!

I've seen a mod that eliminates the need for the GND.

Cheers for the link, but I think that looks like a bit too much of a job for me. I don't have a soldering iron and I don't really want to risk damaging my turntable.

Anyone know any shops that do this sort of stuff?

Not watched it yet but if that's the one where you do the grounding via the rca-cable shielding ---> it did not work nicely for me.

If you are eager to learn more about the turntable look here:

That dude in the vid uses a HUGE soldering Iron. I recommend one with a nice point on it no bigger than the solder patch that hold the RCA's in place. That way you won't singe the PCB.

I fitted a new volume control to my mates one, they really are complex and beautifully crafted inside!

I have to fit new toggle switches to it, so I will take pics an post em up as soon as I do em.

The only way I can see it not working is if the RCA cable shielding has been kinked or broken in some way, say if you have trapped it under something.

replace the RCA and then try it?
