Default Headsup: sale/swap Roland TR-909 Drum box thingy

just a heads up , I've placed an advert on the "classified" page for this.

Great cosmetic condition TR-909 (has a couple of minor scratches that you can't really notice), unit has a small hiss noise eminating from the rim-shot channel which I'm informed is due to a failing transistor, Japanese part 2SC2603, which thankfully can be replaced by the European BC182L.

I just don't have the cash or will to send this unit off for repair so I'm open to offers of sensible cash or swap "something interesting" but no keyboards as I don't have the room.

here is an MP3 demo of the 909 that I've just recorded to show everything is working as it should and it also lets you hear the noise from the rimshot (If you mute the rimshot then you don't hear the noise with the other instruments)

    TR909 rim shot noise demo.mp3

and a piccy , if you want more pics let me know.

I'm in Preston , Lancashire , UK by the way.

    Email me on wickfut(AT)hotmail.com

I'll leave it on here for a few days , then throw it on ebay

lastly , sorry if I'm breaking forum rules , please delete if I am Mark.

no you're fine m8. no rules broken.

what were you thinking of swapping for it? (some rough ideas might push some people to make offers that they normally wouldnt)

to be honest , I'm not 100% sure , some music gear of course, I'd love a V-synth XT, Jomox 888 or maybe a machinedrum.

I've powered the 909 on again today and it's working fine with no noise at all? pretty bonkers really

If someone is more local and wants to come down to nosey at it first in Preston thats fine too. If someone shows up with £700 in their hands I probably won't refuse it.

I've also got a acidlab bassline TB-303 clone which I've never actually used , open to offers of a swap on that too or £300 cash price.

Lastly , I'm going to be selling my monitors which are Fostex PM2 Mk2s, 10 months old , immaculate condition and sound as good as any sub £1000 active speakers. These are a bit too bass heavy for my room so I'll probably let them go for around £250 ish, I'm not in a rush to get shut of them as I need to save up some pennies for replacements first.

edit.. clearer pic of the 909

I do not accept souls nor loans of wives/girlfriends as payment :)

Got ****ed about by idiots saying they were buying but never showed up (even at a silly price of £550! ???) , I fixed the 909 problem myself with 30p worth of transistors and 10 mins of my time and I'm now keeping it. It works perfectly like a new one and I hope you're all kicking yourselves as you missed out on a bit of a bargain. ha ha

The acidlab got traded for a nord rack but the monitors are still available if anyone wants them (or atleast have a demo)

    RE:ebay...

On ebay the 909s don't seem to be selling , I've watched a couple get relisted at £900 with no buyers. I think I should wait as the problem with the transistors will happen to them all eventually
