EMISSIONS episode 9 is a very special livePA by the legendary 65d Mavericks. Recorded at REVERB in London, on 2009.04.11, it is a showcase of their masterful capacity to melt classic sounds with futuristic atmospheres.
The 65d Mavericks first came to light forging the new wave of UK techno in the mid nineties alongside the likes of Surgeon, Oliver Ho, Regis and Ruskin. They have built a global reputation over the last twelve years for their diverse music and energetic live shows, playing some of the most respected clubs and festivals around. Being well respected by producers, promoters and DJ‘s alike for their no-compromise philosophies, the 65D Mavericks take it upon themselves to tailor every live set to each specific gig - if you miss it, it‘s gone forever! In doing so, the crowd always gets fresh music with the occasional classic from their early recording careers thrown in for good measure.
Although the 65D's music could be described as challenging, put them in a club environment with their machines and sparks begin to fly! During a recent gig at the Milkweg in Amsterdam the room was being worked so hard that the crowd and even the following DJ wanted them to keep playing!
Running the highly respected Surface Records alongside their recording careers they have released artists such as Surgeon, Claude Young, Oliver Ho, James Ruskin, Regis and Alexander Kowalski and have forthcoming releases from acts as diverse as dynArec, Ben Sims, Counterpart and Function. Expect to see future releases on labels such as Tresor, Dust Science, Lost/Cosmic, Blueprint, Downwards, Lifework's, Theory and their very own Surface Records.
They continue to confuse and bemuse the record buying public by consistently releasing records under different names in different scenes. The fact that they limit their live sets to about one a month adds to their enigma and if anything creates even more hype. If you are lucky enough to see them live it is likely to be an experience that you will never forget!
