he fourth in the Beathoker Podcast series is part 2 of a mix by Belfast's System 47 created using loops and cuts entirely from Irish producers. This first part was prodominently minimal techno, this mix is a bit heavier Smile
"this mix was completed using the work of northern & southern irish producers. tracks were cut into base loops & spliced together in Ableton Live with the help of D16's Drumazon TR909 emulator, the Glitch vst plugin, the Superlooper Ableton tool & Evolution UC17 & UC33e midi controllers. the mix was a one take live recording with no overdubs by SYSTEM 47 (aka Pete Donaldson, slavestudios & slave) @ slavestudios, belfast, NI)
With this mix, i tried to attack the loops in a much more abusive fashion. Part I was about subtle parts blended & mixed, where as Part II has been much more about slammin different elements into each head long & running with the consequences. there are a range of flavours here, with funk driven party techno drifting into dense broken beat soundscapes, then morphing back into jackin drum workouts. this mix is much more aggressive & features a lot more abuse of D16's fantastic TR909 emulator, Drumazon. the feel here is much more 'slavestudios' than 'System 47' but both mixes show the breadth & depth of material from both north & south of the border regardless of who mixed them. again, many thanx to all who contributed, and to anyone whom i didnt include, i will make sure i do next time. last but not least, a massive thank you to Beathoker for hosting these mixes & giving me the opportunity :)"

Pete Donaldson has been an active part of the Belfast techno scene for almost 12 years running & residing at clubs such as Contents, Perpetual, DOYNK, Compound, Robot & Component, as well as putting on many one off partys & pulling residencies in Bangors Relapse & Laverys at their Hell & Sunday Sound Sessions nights.
Pete has become known for his uncompromising hard techno dj sets through his time on the circuit, as well as playing live hardware shows, alongside his eclectic alternative dj sets that cover everything from Peggy Lee to King Tubby to Nine Inch Nails & Mobb Deep.
During his time djing & playing live, Pete has played for Shine, Electric City, Bedlam, Stressfactor, Relapse, Kraft, Deviant Sound System, Protocol, Hydroponic, Twitch, One Loud, Electrotoxic, JakN, Electrico Bastardo, The Moon Club, Evolution, Signal 23, Dub Creation, Otherworld, Micro Error and more including a blistering Ableton set at 07's
Tetris Safari Festival.. and dj'ed beside the likes of Surgeon, Jamie Bissmire, Xavi Newtone, Freddy Fresh, Rob Bright, Suburban Knight, Oliver Ho, Dj Misjah, Steve Glencross, Mark Broom, Jamie Ball, Justin Berkovi, Ant & Rackkitand a host of Irelands finest djs & live acts.
Along the way, Pete also hooked up with Belfast dj John Shields to create Two Stone Monkeys, a mash up of petes hard techno ideals & johns love of groove & funk.. what was created fell between Jeff Mills & Daft Punk with the occassional splash of heavy breaks. The duo were selected for a regular sunday slot on belfast pirate radio show Groove 101 as well a residency in Laverys on a monthly eletronica night plus several guest slots at clubs such as Groove, Evolution, Rhythm Foundation, DOYNK & DeBase. Unfortunately, the duo were forced to split for family commitments, but in their time, they ripped up a good chunk of belfast & released tracks on several local compilations plus radio slots on ATL.
Having now made the jump from vinyl to digital via Ableton Live, Pete has again pushed his hard linear techno sound further than ever whilst also performing techno of a more abstract & stripped nature under the SYSTEM 47 moniker.
Studio production has also seen Pete release on many labels such as Glenn Wilson's highly respected Templte imprint, as well as Yellow Recordings, Electrotoxic & the Digital T compilations on 3 seperate occassions, and has had his self penned '100 FREE TECHNO LOOPS' featured on several releases from stripped mnml funk to heavy kick ass techno. Pete also recieved the covated 'Breezeblock Bomb Of The Week' on the highly regarded Mary Anne Hobbs show...without knowing about it until he was informed by a friend via email!
