The Exchange is one of the few mastering places still going i think
but I've no idea if Nilz is still working there
I had something cut by him once
A Hydraulix record, just one side cos me and Lawrie over-baked it
this was very early on in Lawries cutting career and he'd just got a new compressor so...
he did a great job, didn't touch the mix actually,
something I'm very proud of.
a spot of bass I seem to remember.
Took about 15 minutes.
on the subject of mastering
it seems to be an increasingly important thing now in the MP3 world
I know it's nothing new really , but the quality of MP3s has shot up recently i.m.o
and that seems to synchronize with the advent (pun) of new digital mastering studios.
I'm thinking about it for the next Mutate release
A pair of fresh ears on your work is always a good thing.
perhaps with the exception of your grandparents.
maybe McCormack , or Robert Liener or Heckman maybe ?
anyone know any others ? ( good ones with a track record )

love your mum
I've heard McCormack's mastering is the business.
I always wanted to have something mastered by Nilz.
He understood the sound of that time I think more so than others.

About the best guy in the biz for techno right now is Matt Colton @ Air studios.

Went there for the cut of last Surface and his reputation as the best is unquestionable.
Nice guy too.
I am not here but my ghost still lingers
ohhh man I used to get excited to buy techno records in the shops. When I took the record out of the sleeve and shined it at an angle, you knew you were in for some quality mastering whenever you saw Nilz scratched somewhere on it.
Unfortunately while his mastering was great, some of the tracks he mastered were only so-so.
Nilz is legend! and Graeme Durham the founder of "The Exchange" is worth to mention too.
Ive noticed Oliver Lieb and Joerg Henze they are started quallity mastering buisness under the name: lhaudio services last year.
Whats about the names like: Andreas Kauffelt or Brian Sanhaji ?
As ive heard they are good too.
- Robert Babicz aka Rob Acid
- Brian Sanhaji http://www.myspace.com/sanhajimastering
the latter doing stuff for cocoon/liebing etc.
